We recently updated our website to showcase our past projects and give you an idea of what we do. We've done a variety of work over the past 4 years and what's come to light is that no matter what we're taking on, we always approach it in a holistic and client focused way. We pride ourselves on cleanliness and getting the details right. Our goal is to move this mentality into a broader scope of work, helping clients navigate through the process of finishing their basement or second floor, adding a dwelling unit, or building an ADU. This was definitely one of our favourite transformations this year! The client had started updating this basement before we arrived, and needed to gain some momentum before selling the home. We managed to add a 3 piece bathroom to the house and incorporate a sleek laundry area within this underutilized space. Our client chose the paint colours and we love that they did something different with the dark trim!Button -

The new counters and cabinets freshen up the space and greatly improve the storage options. As you've heard by now, the lockdown is forcing us to postpone any projects that weren't started before Jan 14th. We are lucky enough to have a couple basements that are completely isolated from our clients, and we are taking all the measures we can to screen, wear masks, have material delivered to site, and keep working safe through this difficult time. In case you don't know us personally yet, here's a little bio! This is Andrew Reid, one of the owners at Ginkgo. Andrew started in construction back in his hometown of Thunder Bay, where he framed and assembled pre-fabricated garages. After 3 years in the industry, he moved to KW to complete the Renovation Technician program at Conestoga. Upon graduating, he painted exteriors for a summer and then worked as a junior carpenter/apprentice carpenter with a local renovation company for the next 5 years. He passed the Red Seal exam for General Carpentry in 2020, and shortly after fulfilled his dream of opening his own business along with his partner, Nathan. In his work, Andrew enjoys framing, drywalling and trying new things. Andrew grew up skateboarding and snowboarding, and was a founding member of Thunder Bay Bike Polo. He enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his fiancee Marissa. He recently got into go-karting and aspires to ride motorcycles in the coming years.Button -

Throwback Thursday goes out to this garage facelift we did this past summer. New soffit, fascia, and vinyl siding were just what this old building needed. We also did a nice tall fence for some privacy on the deck. Today we started the waterproofing on our porch rebuild project. This technique is something we picked up from @finehomebuilding and @mike_guertin. The webinar series put on by FHB during the covid shutdown was an awesome way to continue learning and having something to look forward to. Every day is a new lesson in construction, and we do our best to always grow and #keepcraftalive ๐ทButton -

Current progress on our porch rebuild! This balcony was falling apart before, it had a failing low-slope roof and extensive water and insect damage to the railings. The joists were held on with 2 nails at the house. Now it sports a rock solid ledger board, and posts and railings that function and line up. Our next phase will be waterproofing the joists for longevity and a nice dry porch below, stay tuned!Button -
